Sahith Theegala has tried to play through the pain of a neck injury this season, and after missing the cut at last week’s Memorial he has been advised to take time off at a most unfortunate juncture in the schedule. The 27-year-old one-time PGA Tour winner said in a social media post on Wednesday that with a “heavy heart” he was withdrawing from this week’s RBC Canadian Open and will be out while getting treatment on and resting the injury.

“I’ve been battling the last few weeks, so this one stings,” Theegala wrote.
The Californian and Pepperdine alum is among a stable of players on tour who represent RBC. Of course, the biggest setback for Theegala is likely missing next week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont, at which he would be making his fifth start in the championship. He did not mention the U.S. Open in his post.
Theegala had a strong 2024, playing in 26 events and posting nine top-10s and two runners-up to make the Tour Championship. But this season he has only two top-25s in 15 starts and had to withdraw from the Truist Championship in May after shooting 78 in the third round. Theegala withdrew from the PGA Championship the next week and tried to come back last week at Muirfield Village but shot 74-77 to miss the cut.
