FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Phil Mickelson is not at the Ryder Cup, this despite the fact that Keegan Bradley (and many others) predicted he would be the American captain at Bethpage Black. But he weighed in on the proceedings from afar with a prediction that the U.S. players will appreciate.
After a rough Saturday morning that saw Team USA fall farther behind, the six-time major champ and 12-time Ryder Cupper tweeted support of his former Ryder Cup partner—and a positive prognostication for the final two sessions.

“I know Team USA is down 5 points but Captain Keegan nailed the afternoon pairings and they are going to make a strong run! USA,” Mickelson said on X, adding a few American flag emojis as well.

We’re sure Captain Keegan will appreciate that, but it might not be the best omen for a squad that trails by five points entering Saturday afternoon. After all, it was Mickelson who earlier this year threw out a “hot take” that Scottie Scheffler wouldn’t win before the Ryder Cup. And the World No. 1 won six times.
So, yeah, Mickelson isn’t exactly nostradamus with this stuff. Anyway, Phil’s got a pheeling. And U.S. golf fans would love if he’s right this time.
