Brendon Todd was in the hunt at the Sentry after shooting 67-64 the first two rounds at Kapalua, but a third-round 73 moved him down the leaderboard heading into the final round.

The three-time PGA Tour winner bogeyed the opening hole of the final round, then went berserk with four consecutive birdies and seven birdies in a 12-hole span.

Then Todd stood on the tee of the par-4 14th hole tied for fifth place – only four shots off the lead – and hit his drive way, way right and out-of-bounds. He quickly threw his driver on the ground and the shaft snapped:

He reloaded and hit his second drive to the left side of the fairway, hit a wedge to 20 feet and two-putted for an untimely double-bogey 6.

Todd collected two second-place finishes and seven top-10s last season to finish 47th in FedEx Cup standings, making him eligible for the signature events this year on the tour.
