HILTON HEAD ISLAND — Scottie Scheffler is taking all of the fun out of golf betting! That’s a common refrain I’ve heard the past few months. That’s not true. Sure, Scheffler is great, and his outright numbers around 4-1 to win against 68 other signature golfers are not bettable for sharper golf bettors. My PGA Professional perspective is this: Scheffler has caused us to get more creative with our weekly betting card.

It is so important to diversify your weekend wagers. Proposition, or “prop” bets, are the key to building a bankroll while Scheffler continues to pile up podiums.

Take a look at the best bets below I have listed for the RBC Heritage. We can all definitely make money even if the outright market seems closed out by the world’s No. 1 golfer.

Take Adam Schenk to finish inside the top 30 (+110 Bet Rivers)

Nine of the past 13 winners of the RBC Heritage have finished inside the top 10 at the Valspar Championship prior to winning. The Copperhead course at Innisbrook is an incredible comp course for Harbour Town. Adam Schenk finished runner-up to Taylor Moore in 2023 at the Valspar. Schenk just finished 12th at Augusta, giving him three top-20 results in his past four starts. The dependable mid-iron player is also an awesome putter. Overall, Adam is gaining an average of four strokes on the field in his past five starts.

Take Will Zalatoris (-120) over Jordan Spieth in a head-to-head matchup (DraftKings)

This is a tournament match bet covering all 72 holes. I walked with Will Zalatoris for a number of holes at Augusta National last week. His ball-striking is in a phenomenal place. Over his last five starts, Zalatoris is gaining an average of four strokes on the field tee to green. Jordan Spieth is at the opposite end of the ball-striking standings right now. Spieth has missed three of his past four cuts and cannot pinpoint the problem. One week his iron game is off, and the next it is his driver. In either case, Zalatoris will keep it between trees and take down Spieth by a couple of shots in the lowcountry.

Parlay Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler both to win (29-1)

Let’s say you just have to bet the world No. 1(s). We all are familiar with Scottie Scheffler’s level of dominance. Adding his second Masters and Players titles proves he’s pretty much unstoppable at the moment. Favored by a wide margin, the next closest signature star behind his 4-1 odds to win is Xander Schauffele at 11-1. With all due respect to Scheffler, Nelly Korda has distanced herself from her peers even more. Korda is 5-1 to win the Chevron Championship and her next closest betting leader is Sei Young Kim at 25-1! If you really want to bet Scottie, take Nelly as well, and let these two capture their titles and give you the best pay day possible!
