The US took a commanding 4-1 lead after the opening foursomes session at the Presidents Cup. Only Si Woo Kim and Cam Davis were able to win their match for the International side, defeating Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns, 2 up.

Making the feat even more impressive was the fact that Kim and Davis were 3 down after seven holes and 2 down as late as the 14th hole. But they won the 15th hole, then the 16th, 17th and 18th to close out the lone point of the day for captain Trevor Immelman’s squad.

Setting the tone early for the red, white and blue were Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, who defeated Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama 6&5.
