Rory McIlroy’s wild start to the 2024 Players Championship continued on Friday with a literal brush with some wildlife at TPC Sawgrass.
Playing his second shot from the rough at the par-3 third during the second round, Rory recoiled after seeing something in the thick grass. It turned out to be a frog.
Check it out as the amphibian delayed play for a bit as Rory and his caddie, Harry Diamond, tried to figure out how to handle the situation:

Fortunately for McIlroy, he wasn’t put on the clock. Unfortunately for him, when he finally hit his pitch, it went over the green. The four-time major champ avoided disaster by getting up and down from there for bogey.
So if you’re keeping track at home, through 21 holes at this year’s event, Rory has already had two debated drops, 11 birdies, and one run-in with a frog. Hey, considering they’re in Florida, that last one could have been much worse.
