The golf world can’t get enough of Bryson DeChambeau these days. From his amazing diet to his unusual training aids to his prodigious drives, golf’s mad scientist has been the clear star of the PGA Tour restart, it seems everyone has caught Bryson fever. Even some of the game’s other biggest names.

Last week, Rory McIlroy made it known how impressed he was with Bryson’s increased pop off the tee. McIlroy, who is no slouch himself with the driver, said he turned to his caddie after a couple DeChambeau drives during the final round at Colonial and said, “Holy shit, that was unbelievable.”

On Thursday during the first round of the Travelers Championship, it was Phil Mickelson’s turn. For a man who claims to hit BOMBS himself, Phil quickly realised DeChambeau is in another world when it comes to his artillery off the tee. Here’s what the mics picked up:

Splitting the fairway with a 335-yard drive is “pretty nasty,” indeed. Although, we’re surprised Mickelson didn’t go with “hellacious seed.” And Bryson certainly seemed to enjoy being complimented by a five-time Major champ.

But even with DeChambeau out-driving Mickelson by 22 yards on the hole, it was the 50-year-old who walked away with birdie. A tip of the (Hogan) cap to you as well, Phil.
