When Bryson DeChambeau missed the cut at last month’s Masters – rather violently, we might add – it felt like a blip. This was a guy who had finished inside the top 10 in six of his last eight majors, including a win and two runners-up.

But after two brutal days at the 2026 PGA Championship – DeChambeau shot 76 Thursday and 71 Friday to finish at seven over – it seems he has some issues to work through.

Friday marked the first time DeChambeau missed consecutive cuts in majors championships since 2017, when he missed the cut at Erin Hills in the US Open and then again at the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. He has never missed three in a row, a feat he’ll hope to avoid at next month’s US Open at Shinnecock. The last time the US Open was held there in 2018, DeChambeau tied for 25th.

He was not the only big name – and not the only former major winner – to struggle over the first 36 holes at Aronimink. Here are six other players who won’t be around for the weekend in Philly.

Adam Scott (+8)

The former Masters champ was playing in his 99th (!) straight major this week, a remarkable feat worthy of praise. But he won’t be adding to his major victory tally after rounds of 72 and 76, missing his second cut in his last three PGA Championships.

Viktor Hovland (+6) 2276408645

Michael Reaves

Viktor has been fighting his swing all year. (Well, actually, maybe his whole life.) That fight continued this week, with Hovland opening in 74 and then failing to post an under par score in Round 2 (72). This marks his first major MC since the 2024 British Open at Royal Troon.

J.J. Spaun (+6)

The reigning US Open champion picked up his third PGA Tour win at the Valero the week before the Masters. That momentum has not carried over. He’s gone MC-MC in the majors this year.

Tyrrell Hatton (+6)

Hatton has a sneaky great majors record, making 16 of his last 17 major cuts with nine top-20 finishes along the way, including a T-3 in this year’s Masters. But he MC’d in a major for just the second time since the 2021 Open on Friday, shooting rounds of 72 and 74.

Tommy Fleetwood (+5)

After he finally got over the hump at the Tour Championship last August, many thought this would be the year Tommy Lad gets it done in a major. Instead, he quietly tied for 33rd at Augusta and shot 72-73 this week to miss the cut in the PGA Championship for the first time in five years. The Englishman has just one top-10 in his last 10 majors.

Robert MacIntyre (+5)

Bob Mac was becoming a big-game hunter late last year, finishing runner-up at Oakmont, T-7 at the Open, and then backing that up with another strong finish in a huge event in March (solo fourth at the Players). Unfortunately, the busy stretch of golf these last few months has caught up with him, as Bob Mac has missed both major cuts in 2026.
