The 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is a month away, and its “signature” status in 2024 means bigger purses and a star-studded field. Getting a coveted invite to the “am” part of the show is one way to prove you’ve arrived. However, if you didn’t make that cut—and have $39 million to spend—this jaw-dropping home near the 13th hole could help you start running with the in-crowd.

To call this 7,400-square-foot, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom a renovation hardly does justice to the handiwork by current owner (and automotive accessories tycoon) David MacNeil that left no square inch of the three-acre property untouched. In addition to the separate guest house, the home has two full offices and a lower sporting level that would make watching the tournament action almost superfluous. The lighted putting green, outdoor kitchen and tournament-caliber bocce court are cool enough to make neighbor Jim Nantz offer a home-and-home skills challenge on his personal par-3 for a bottle of fine Napa red—or a set of custom WeatherTech floor mats.

It takes some mental gymnastics to think of a home adjacent to 17-Mile Drive as ever being “off the grid,” but this one comes with solar panels, backup generator and a 30,000-gallon rainwater collection system to make riding out severe weather event nothing more than an excuse to investigate the nooks and crannies in the 1,000-bottle wine cellar.

The $39 million asking price is just the cost of entry. There’s also the $67,000 annual property taxes—assessed on the pre-renovation value of $6.3 million. If you buy it at list, you’ll have the honor of closing the most expensive individual home sale in the history of Pebble Beach—about $3 million more than a 15,000-sqft oceanfront estate that sold in 2022. If that doesn’t get you at least a look for a spot in the ’25 pro-am, it might be time to give up the dream.
