We put it to our readers: if you could change one thing about the Presidents Cup, what would it be? Turns out, you had a lot to say.
From format overhauls to LIV eligibility to a genuine push for a women’s event, here’s a look at some of the best, boldest and most creative responses from our community.
Bring in the women
By far the most popular theme was a genuine appetite for a women’s or mixed event, something the Presidents Cup currently has no equivalent of.
“Have the women involved. Our women deserve more chances to play for their ‘nation’,” one comment read.
Another kept it simple: “Introduce a women’s version…..”
One reader went further, laying out a full three-day format:
“Make it mixed and reduce it to three days like the Ryder/Solheim Cups. The women don’t have a President’s Cup equivalent. And it fixes the lack of even competition we currently suffer, because it adds the weight of Korean/Asian women.
Fri: mixed fourball and foursomes
Sat: mens and womens fourball and foursomes
Sun: singles
Awesome. Huge audience. Problem solved.”
Another proposed something similar: “Mixed event… Top 5 non European men and Top 5 women vs the Top US men and women…same format as Ryder or Solheim Cup….move it around to different countries.”
Let LIV players back in
Several comments pointed to LIV Golf eligibility as the fix the competition actually needs.
“Opening up to LIV players would’ve made it more competitive,” one reader wrote.
“That all players in any bracket of golf are available for their teams,” said another, while a third put it plainly: “LIV players are eligible.”
One comment summed up the broader sentiment: “ALL players no matter where they play should be available for selection.”
Split it by region, not just US vs everyone else
One of the more detailed pitches argued the “soulless International Team” concept itself is the problem.
“If LIV and the Ryder Cup have proven anything it’s that there’s an appetite for team golf. At the end of each season leave a window open for it. Instead of having a soulless International team, the US should play another continent every off year (so basically when there’s no Ryder Cup). Eg. US vs Asia or Africa or South America or Oceania. No reason other continents can’t play each other too such as Africa vs Oceania etc.
This addresses a few issues. It allows other continents and their fans to see top golf and with top players. It also adds more tribalism for the players and fans representing a region rather than a planet.”
Rework the format entirely
Not everyone wanted a bigger competition, some wanted a leaner one.
“Just make it the same as the Ryder cup format. International may be a chance of winning and America can use it as a warm up of sorts for Ryder cup,” one comment suggested.
Another had a more radical take: “Do away with Single matches. 2 player scramble.”
And a simpler view: “Everyone play foursomes and four balls.”
Or just scrap it
Not everyone was in a reforming mood. One answer was blunt: “Drop it altogether.”

If there was one clear takeaway from the response, it’s this: the appetite for a women’s or mixed Presidents Cup was easily the most requested change, well ahead of format tweaks, LIV eligibility or regional splits. Whether the powers that be are listening is another question entirely.
