From Sunday through Wednesday, Wyndham Clark was on top of the world. After winning his first major title at Los Angeles Country Club on Saturday, Clark was seen chugging beers out of the US Open trophy.

He appeared on Good Morning America. He shook hands. He kissed babies. He was king. But that was then and this is now. The food chain reset at TPC River Highlands on Thursday, and Justin Thomas was quick to let Clark know it, hitting the 2023 US Open champ with this hilarious NSFW chirp during their opening round at the Travelers Championship.

Playing the 12th at TPC River Highlands, it appeared Thomas had hit the green on the short par-4 and was fairly close to the pin.

Clark, still waiting to hit his wedge shot from the fairway, then asked Thomas to mark his ball to avoid the possibility it could impede his own approach once it hit the green. Thomas couldn’t resist a playful chirp in response: “Guy wins one f—— US Open and I have to mark it from 80 yards.”

The video and hot mic audio from Thomas saying it was later removed from social media.

Straight back to the bottom of the totem pole. If that ain’t the way of the world, we don’t know what is.

Not that Thomas is one to talk. He imploded at LACC on Friday, firing the second worst score of his pro career, to miss the cut. He called the moment the “lowest” of his PGA Tour tenure, but his grisly 81 isn’t the number that matters most here. That number is two.

Justin Thomas has two major titles (not to mention a Players and FedEx Cup). Clark has one. Until something changes in that column, JT can talk as much trash as he wants.
