Nick Taylor is now a four-time PGA Tour winner, a former World No. 1 amateur, and a national hero in Canada. But there’s something much simpler he’s yet to accomplish in his golf career: Meet Tiger Woods.

Ahead of this week’s Genesis Invitational, which is hosted by the 15-time major champ, Taylor revealed that surprising fact. And he hopes it’s something that can be rectified at Riviera after it nearly happened more organically at last year’s tournament.

“I’ve never met Tiger actually. There’s been a few times where I was very close to being paired with him,” Taylor told reporters on Tuesday. “Actually last year here we both made the cut on the number and looked like we were potentially going to play with each other and then I got a few texts that I was going to play with Tiger and whatever happened late, a few guys bogeyed and whatever the scenario was I ended up not being. I haven’t. I hope to one day. I hope he keeps playing as much as he can so that scenario works out, so hopefully.”

Taylor was then asked if he’d make meeting Tiger a “priority” this week.

“I’ll try to,” he responded.

Good luck, Nick! You can do it! Oh, and good luck in the tournament. Because if you win again, you won’t only get a nice check and trophy, but you’ll get a handshake with the GOAT as well.
