When I was 10 or 11, I stupidly decided to hit a real golf ball with a 3-wood in my parents backyard. It ended as predictably as you’d expect, with the ball shattering the rear window of my mother’s Mercury Mountaineer, causing somewhere in the vicinity of $2,000 in damages. It was one of the dumber decisions I’ve ever made, but at least I thought I had an end goal: to show off how well I could hit a TaylorMade Burner Bubble Shaft 3-wood to my mate who was over that fateful summer day.

As for the poor schlub we are about to introduce you to, we cannot possibly come up with a serious end goal for… whatever it is he was going for in his garage on… whichever fateful day this was. In a video that’s closing in on 230,000 views already, you’ll see our boy taking a practice swing in his garage, with the garage door open, mind you. A practice swing on hard concrete, though he appears to have some sort of rag or piece of carpet acting as his teeing ground. You’ll never guess how this one ends:

Oh … oh my goodness gracious. I’m having serious PTSD right now, only the major difference between my situation and this guy’s is that it was my mother’s car. I took the lumps, got yelled at, had my mother threaten to call off that summer’s family holiday since I just robbed her of  2 Gs out of thin air, and we all moved on and still laugh about it to this day.

My man here? He has to go over, knock on his neighbour’s door and say, “Hey guys, I was just taking a practice swing in my garage with the door open, while wearing thongs, and I made impact with the ground, which is concrete, which isn’t ideal for practising your golf swing on, and the clubhead happened to fly off, sail across the street and through the rear window of your car, shattering it into a million pieces. Happy Saturday!” or something like that.

Oh, right, the other key difference is that he’s going to be footing this bill, as opposed to the 11-year-old me who was very sorry but didn’t have to pay a dime for his actions. Just a tough scene all around, but one we’re sure he’ll learn a lesson from, that lesson being – don’t take full swings on concrete in your garage with the door open in a pair of thongs. Nothing good can possibly come from that.
