Ludvig Aberg has withdrawn before the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Aberg, 25, turned in a first-round 77 on Thursday at Spyglass, which was last among the 80-player field and 13 shots behind the lead. According to the PGA Tour, Aberg cited illness as the reason for pulling out.
Aberg was one of the many players that battled illness last week at the Farmers Insurance Open; after jumping into the lead on Day 1 at Torrey Pines, Aberg became visibly sick during the weekend, dropping out of contention to ultimately finish T-42.
The fledgling star is sixth in the Official World Golf Ranking. Aberg opened the season with a T-5 at the Sentry in Maui. Earlier this week, Aberg was announced to make his tournament debut at next week’s WM Phoenix Open.According to the tour, Cypress Point head professional Casey Reamer will take Aberg’s spot to fill out the pro-am portion of the tournament. Aberg was partnered yesterday with Jimmy Dunne, vice chairman and senior managing principal of Piper Sandler.
