With Lexi Thompson teeing it up as the only female at the Greg Norman-hosted Franklin Templeton Shootout, Cobra Puma Golf has announced the LPGA Star superstar has signed a long-term extension with the company.

Thompson, who partnered with Cobra Puma in 2010 immediately after turning professional, was the first golfer to sign with both brands following the merger. Since then, Lexi, who is ranked No.5 in the world, and one of the longest in driving distance on the LPGA Tour, has become a global golf star.

Lexi has also been featured in PUMA’s Forever Faster global marketing campaign, starring in commercials with some of the world’s finest sporting personalities, including Usain Bolt.

“Lexi transcends golf. She has established herself not only as a world-class golfer and one of the top personalities in the industry, but also as an incredible athlete and role model,” said Bob Philion, President & CEO, Cobra Puma Golf. “In the past six years she has helped us grow our women’s business and establish our brand as the go-to source for stylish, fun, high-performance equipment, footwear and apparel for women. We are excited to extend our relationship with her as she continues her career, inspiring the next generation of golfers.”

“I’ve really enjoyed having COBRA and PUMA by my side since I turned professional, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together in the next phase of my career,” said Thompson. “They are a fun, innovative and exciting partner, keeping me looking good, comfortable and prepared with first-class equipment so I can focus on winning, training and being the best athlete I can be.”

Thompson burst onto the national golf scene when she was only 12 years old, setting the record as the youngest-ever qualifier to play in the U.S. Women’s Open. By 16 she was already a winner on the LPGA Tour, now, at just 21 years old she has seven LPGA wins to her name and in 2014 won her first major – the Kraft Nabisco Championship. This summer she participated in the Olympic Games in Rio, representing women’s golf as the sport made its triumphant return to the summer games for the first time since 1904.

This week Thompson will add some girl power to the field at the Franklin Templeton Shootout, joining the 24-person field as the only female golfer. She will be paired with fellow Cobra Puma Golf athlete, Bryson DeChambeau for the 54-hole team event. Thompson will be the first female participant since Annika Sorenstam in 2006.
