While no updates have been provided by the PGA Tour on the status of next month’s Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles as wildfires in the region continue to burn, the tournament has created a way for the public to donate to relief efforts. In an email announcement on Monday, the event unveiled a black “LA Strong” T-shirt with the Genesis Invitational logo, made by Fanatics, that is being sold online for $35. The Genesis organizers said no profits will be made from the sales, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross and L.A. Fire Department Foundation.

“We are continuing to monitor the devastating fires in our community. Our immediate concern is the health and welfare of those in the affected areas,” the Genesis email read. “We are grateful to the first responders who have tirelessly supported and protected our community.”

As of Monday, there were three major fires burning in L.A.—named Palisades, Eaton and Hurst—with more than 40,000 total acres charred and 24 deaths reported by authorities. The region remains on high alert as the National Weather Service has issued Red Flag warnings for heavy winds that are expected to continue through Wednesday. “This setup is about as bad as it gets,” NWS said in a social media post.

The Genesis is scheduled to be played Feb. 13-16 at Riviera Country Club, whose neighborhood continues to be in the mandatory evacuation zone of the Palisades fire that began on Jan. 7 and has burned for a full week. The Palisades blaze now has torched, according to Cal Fire, more than 23,000 acres, destroyed more than 1,100 structures and killed eight people, with four people missing. As of 2 p.m. Pacific time on Monday, the fire was 14 percent contained.

The last statement the PGA Tour made regarding the Genesis’ status was on Jan. 9, when it communicated with its playing membership and said,” At this point, it is premature to discuss the potential impact on the Genesis Invitational. Although the Riviera Country Club has not been directly affected by the fires, our immediate concern is the health and welfare of those in the affected communities, including all our members who have ties to Southern California We will keep the membership updated as the situation develops.”

It has been speculated that it will be difficult for the Genesis Invitational to be played at Riviera, considering the devastation not far from the course in Pacific Palisades, as well as the availability of police and fire support, as well as hotel rooms that may now be occupied by fire refugees.

Among the potential replacement sites is TPC Scottsdale, which is hosting the WM Phoenix Open the week before the Genesis and would have the course setup and infrastructure in place.
