For the better part of a season and half on TGL, Kevin Kisner has played the role of comedic relief. In Jupiter Links’ first-ever match, Kiz skulled a bunker shot that would have decapitated a bystander had it not struck the flagstick first, leaving teammate/boss Tiger Woods doubled over in tears of laughter. Since then, it’s been one humorous misfortune after the next for Kisner … until Monday, when the semi-retired NBC analyst turned back the clock with a fantastic performance that earned Jupiter Links their first TGL win in over a year.

Kisner lead the six-man field in strokes gained on Monday, as Jupiter Links held on to beat last year’s defending champions, Atlanta Drive GC, 8-6. The real fireworks began after the match, however, when Kisner told ESPN’s Marty Smith that motivation behind his surprising turnaround was Tiger Woods … but not for the reasons you might think.

“Well, Tiger pretty much told me he was kicking me off the team if I didn’t get my act together,” Kisner said as Woods cracked a mile-wide grin behind him. Kisner wasn’t done there, however. The four-time PGA Tour winner then went on the offensive, telling both Atlanta Drive and the online trolls to quote “suck on that W” on his way out the door.

Admittedly Kisner’s play has been a tough watch at times, but his comedy, candor and color have embodied what TGL is all about. You can watch the PGA Tour if you want to watch grown men with the sense of humor of rocks compete for a bajillion dollars every weekend. TGL is supposed to be where these guys let their hair down a little bit and maybe rip a cigarette in the parking lot after a big win. So far, Kisner has been one of the few guys providing that energy, so we’re glad Tiger decided to keep him around … for now.
