Kawhi Leonard became one of Twitter’s favorite targets on Wednesday following a controversial report by Pablo Torre that the NBA star and his team, the Los Angeles Clippers, may have circumvented the salary cap. At the root of this report is a “no-show job” that pays Leonard $28 million over four years as long as he stays with the Clippers. Hmm.

That deal was made with Aspiration, a now-bankrupt tree-planting service company founded by Clippers owner Steve Ballmer. Again, hmm. The Clippers have denied the salary cap accusations, but not before social media jumped all over this.
Let’s just say there were jokes. Lots of jokes. And lots of jokes involving trees, including our favorite golf-related one from Bleacher Report’s Molly Morrison:
