Being a PGA Tour pro is a pretty exclusive club. It means you’re in the top 1 percent of the golfers on the planet… but it’s not the pinnacle. There are levels to this game. There’s the Ryder Cup veterans and Masters Champions Dinner guests; the former Champion Golfers of the Year and, most exclusive of all, the US Open winners, conquerors of golf’s greatest test.

On Monday before the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No.2, 2013 US Open champion Justin Rose offered golf plebes everywhere a glimpse inside that elite club with a look at the champions-only locker room at Pinehurst. Now we no longer have to imagine what it’s like to be a fly on that wall…

OK, so it’s not exactly an “Eyes Wide Shut” party (thankfully), but the cosy quarters tell you just how rare this air really is. Each locker is adorned with a silver champions plaque and a tribute bust to Payne Stewart’s 1999 US Open triumph at Pinehurst No.2 stands at the centre of the room.

Obviously there’s some unpacking left to be done, but all in all it’s a cool setup and we thank “Rosey” for a giving us a taste of how the other half percent lives.
