Any successful relationship depends on support. You might be having a no good, terrible, very bad week, but if your partner is having worse one, you have to suck it up and provide the shoulder to cry on. Soon or later, it will be your turn, after all.

Just ask Jessica Hadwin, the Max Homa of PGA Tour WAGs, who tried to brighten the mood for her husband Adam Hadwin after he missed the cut at the Players Championship despite firing a three-under 69 on Friday. Returning to the course on Saturday morning, the Hadwins drove past the first tee, where an early group was teeing off for their third rounds. That’s when Jessica attempted to make light of the situation with a joke that didn’t quite land with her husband.

Honestly, nobody is wrong in this situation. As a loser currently working on the weekend, I can appreciate Jessica’s attempt at dark humor. I can also see why Adam wouldn’t. Despite a top ten at the WM Phoenix Open, Hadwin has finished 29th, T59, CUT, T65 and CUT in his five other starts this season. We don’t blame him for not being in the laughing mood.

According to Jessica, the joke bombed so hard she wanted jump from the moving vehicle, but we’re sure she’ll find herself in her husband’s seat soon enough. When that happens, we’re sure he’ll be there armed with a punchline or two of his own.
