JASON Day has added yet another win to his career-defining season, with an emphatic six-shot victory over Henrik Stenson at The Barclays Championship.

The US PGA Championship winner salvaged a tricky par on the 17th, and headed into the last hole of the first FedEx Cup playoffs event with a cushy lead.

The 27-year-old drove to the fringe of short, par-4 18th hole and got up and down for a birdie. He signed for a 62 and finished with a 19-under par total.

Day started the tournament slowly with a pair of 68s, but a superb weekend of 63 and 62 sealed the deal for the Queenslander’s sixth US PGA Tour victory.

He now heads to the Deutsche Bank Championship as the leader of FedEx Cup playoffs.

Swede Stenson finished on 13-under, while big-hitting Bubba Watson finished on 11-under par.

“It’s been a special summer for me,” Day said after the round. “I owe a lot of thank to a lot of people around the world.

“That’s a good start to the playoffs and I’m looking forward to next week.”
