The greatest golfer of all time has given Tiger Woods a glowing endorsement with Jack Nicklaus claiming his comeback contained flashes of his brilliant best.

Nicklaus was recently asked about the 14-time major winner’s return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas last week. Nicklaus – a winner of 18 majors – said Woods’ swing looked great after 16 months on the sideline recovering from a second microdiscectomy operation.

“The talent is there. That’s not going to leave,” Nicklaus said Friday from the Father-Son Challenge.

“I thought he swung the golf club fairly decently.”

However, the Gold Bear warned Tiger of the depth of talent golf had acquired during the eight injury-riddled years since Woods’ last major victory at the 2008 US Open.

“He didn’t really play very well as it relates to what he was trying to do, but it was nice to see him back. I think he was pleased to be back,” said Nicklaus.

“There is a lot of depth out there. While Tiger was going through his problems a lot of young guys came along and developed. All those guys came along and learned how to win. When Tiger is coming back he’s got that to contend with. That will be tough for him.”
