Australian golfer Zach Murray climbed into contention on moving day at Black Mountain in the International Series Thailand with a near flawless round of four-under on top of previous rounds of 67 and 66.

The $US2m event is the third International Series event of 2023, one of 10 enhanced Asian Tour events at world class venues, featuring elevated prize funds, and welcoming golfing talent from every continent and tour.

The 25-year-old is already an Asian Tour winner, courtesy of the 2019 New Zealand Open, just his third start, and now stands atop the leaderboard going into the final day with a chance to propel himself up the International Series Order or Merit – the winner of which punches their ticket to the ultra-lucrative LIV Golf League.

“I try to win every week but obviously with the Asian Tour giving us a good opportunity with these International Series I think it is special. There haven’t been too many International Series winners so it’d be nice to add my name to the list.”

Murray also said he’s right where he wants to be going into the final round: “At the start of the week I thought if I could have five-under every round I’d be around the mark, and at the moment it’s that… 15-under, so I’m where I want to be. I haven’t been in the lead for a while but I like it – it’s where we all want to be so I’m looking forward to (the final round).”

Murray is joined by the International Series Morocco 2022 champion Jazz Janewattananond from Thailand, Bangladeshi Siddikur Rahman, and S Chikkarangappa from India.
