This week is LIV Golf’s third event of the season, in Hong Kong, and it starts a stretch of three consecutive tournaments in three different countries. At Hong Kong Golf Club, where they’ve played for three straight years, they’re playing for the usual $30 million with the winner taking home $4 million and the winning team splitting $3 million.
To start the week, however, there was news bigger than just a golf tournament as eight players were stuck in the Middle East and unable to get to Hong Kong because of airport closures following strikes by the U.S. and Israel in Iran. Those players—Lee Westwood, Laurie Canter, Sam Horsfield, Adrian Meronk, Thomas Detry, Caleb Surratt, Tom McKibbin and Anirban Lahiri—have since found their way to Hong Kong and are expected to play.
Anthony Kim is playing in his first since winning LIV Golf Adelaide, after retiring from golf for 12 years. It was the best story in the history of the league. Elvis Smylie won the season-opener in Saudi Arabia. Jon Rahm with consecutive runner-up finishes tops the individual standings. Cam Smith’s Ripper squad is atop the team standings.
Here’s the rundown of what each player will earn this week in Hong Kong. Check back here Sunday when play is complete for updates.
