Xander Schauffele is one of the biggest draws this week at the Baycurrent Classic in Japan. He’s also the defending champion. The 10th ranked player in the world leads the field of 72 players at Yokohama Country Club although Wyndham Clark, at No. 5, is the highest ranked player in the field.
They’ll all be competing for the $8 million purse with the winner taking home $1.44 million. This is the one fall event where some of the bigger names compete.

In all six of the top 30 players in the world are in action. Behind Clark and Schauffele are Collin Morikawa (11), Jacob Bridgeman (20), Ryan Gerard (23), Hideki Matsuyama (26) and Justin Thomas (27). Bridgeman already won the Biltmore Championship in Asheville in the fall, the week before the Presidents Cup.
Speaking of the Presidents Cup, aside from the aforementioned Americans that were on the winning team, there are many from the International team who are playing this week in Japan too. Matsuyama, of course, is a home favorite in Japan. His teammates, Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Sungjae Im, Nico Echavarria, Nick Taylor, Ryo Histatsune and Christiaan Bezuidenhout are all at the Baycurrent.
A reminder, FedEx Cup fall points are still valuable for many names hovering around the 100 mark, the magic number needed to retain exempt status for 2027. Bezuidenhout is at 99, Lee Hodges is 103 and Tony Finau is 104. Billy Horschel, who is in Japan, played well last week in Utah to jump from outside the top 100 and into the 94th position.
Check back here early Sunday when play is complete for updates on the numbers below.
