The Genesis Scottish Open delivered one of the best stories of the year in 2024 when Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre birdied the 72nd hole to win in his native country. It was a magical moment when the man from Oban drained the 22-footer and all of Scotland started to celebrate. It was his second PGA Tour victory of the year.
MacIntyre, of course, is back again this year at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, as the sacked field in the PGA Tour-DP World Tour co-sanctioned event is playing for a $9 million purse, with the winner taking home $1.575 million.
It starts at the top of the world ranking with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, the top two players. Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa are here too, meaning the top five in the world are all in action. McIlroy and Schauffele have both won the Scottish Open. MacIntyre is looking to become the first man in history to win back-to-back.

U.S. Open winner J.J. Spaun is in Scotland, playing for the first time since 2022. The winner at Oakmont tied for 14th place the next week at the Travelers Championship and hasn’t played since. Aside from McIlroy, other top Europeans Ludvig Aberg, Sepp Straka, Viktor Hovland and Tommy Fleetwood are at Renaissance Club.
Harris English, ranked 19th, is looking to play on the Ryder Cup team, but his caddie wasn’t able to clear all the proper paperwork because of a drug conviction from 30 years ago.
The PGA Tour is also hosting another event this week in Kentucky, the ISCO Championship. Up next, of course, is the British Open at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. The Barracuda Championship will run opposite of that in California before the 3M Open and Wyndham Championship close out the regular season.
Here’s the rundown of what each player will earn this week who makes the cut. Check back here Sunday for updates when play is complete.
