The weather is cooling, the leaves are changing and Happy Gilmore is officially back.
It’s a heck of a time to be alive. A few weeks ago, production for Netflix’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ began, with much of the shooting scheduled to take place in New Jersey.
Now we’ve gotten our first glimpse of the long-mooted sequel thanks to TikTok user Ariana Hailand, who opened her front door this week to find Adam Sandler dragging a set of golf clubs out of a nearby house in his bathrobe.
Check it out:
If this doesn’t bring a tear to your eye as a 30-something golf fan, then we are simply not the same. Golf fans have been waiting 28 years (and counting) for a Gilmore-McGavin rematch, and just when it seemed like all hope was lost, we got our wish. This is almost as surreal as that time College Gameday showed up to the Masters.
Of course, not all sequels are worth waiting for – the less said about ‘Caddyshack 2’ the better – but what little we’ve seen from ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ looks to be in keeping with the original’s endearingly zany spirit. It even looks like they returned to Grandma Gilmore’s house. How’s that for authenticity?
We still don’t have an exact release date for ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ but we’ll make sure to keep you updated with every random shred of intel along the way. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed for another Lee Trevino cameo …
