Streaming giant Netflix made its first official casting announcements overnight for “Happy Gilmore 2”, the long-awaited sequel, including some fresh (and familiar) faces. As we hoped and expected, Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen – of subsequent “Modern Family” fame – will reprise their roles as Shooter McGavin and Virginia Venit.

While Ocasio is best known for his music – the so-called “King of Latin Trap” was Spotify’s most streamed artist in 2020, 2021 and 2022 – he has also carved out a name for himself in show business. Ocasio has been a regular performer on the WWE circuit, including a well-received tag-team victory at Wrestlemania 37, and has appeared in big-budget Hollywood action movies like “F9” and “Bullet Train”.
Earlier this week, Netflix announced that “Happy Gilmore 2” production had officially begun. Adam Sandler will reprise his title role while “Uncut Gems” co-director Benny Safdie and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are also slated to appear in the film.
