Distracted Much? Mind the view when playing a round at Hamilton Island
If there was a Top 100 course ranking for serenity, the Thomson/Perrett-designed Hamilton Island Golf Club would surely vie for the No.1 spot.
The par-71 course takes a relaxing 18-hole walk to a whole new level, combining elevation, restricted landing areas and ever-present breezes with a breathtaking backdrop that looks more mural than real.
There are two parts to this layout – two distinctly different nine-hole circuits – both of which return to the central clubhouse that dishes up spectacular views over Dent Passage and the Whitsundays.
The club recently appointed a new professional – Steve Sandilands. A scratch player by the age of 15, Sandilands won the Gold Coast Championship as a junior, as well as the prestigious Burleigh Cup, recording the second lowest winning score in the history of the event. Golf tuition options with Sandilands include an invaluable 9-hole lesson. It may just be the most memorable lesson you’ll ever have – if you can pay attention for long enough.
