If you’ve not been following the saga of the golf bettor who has been eating nothing but Wendy’s chili for the past month, well, good for you. You live off the internet, a place where the USA Men’s hockey team are still heroes and where the terms “framemogging” and “jestermaxxing” don’t exist. Stay there. Never leave.

But if you’re here, it’s worth reminding you that a golf bettor who goes by the name Larry @Tom & Marty’s (@tomandmartys) has conducted a fascinating experiment over the last month involving eating nothing but Wendy’s chili for every meal. Actually, it started as a punishment for a lost bet, but soon became a weight-loss journey.

Here’s how it started: on January 22nd, Thursday of the American Express, Scottie Scheffler shot an opening-round 63, which prompted Larry to tweet “Scheffler isn’t winning folks. He never does when he starts this hot. I guarantee it.” Just 22 minutes later, Larry doubled down, offering up a personal challenge:

Now, for those unaware of how golf gambling twitter works, specifically Larry’s A+ account, this was a valiant but ultimately feeble attempt at a reverse jinx. Larry had a number of outright bets on golfers not named Scheffler, so he naturally did not want Scheffler to win. Scheffler, of course, went on to win by four.

And so began a month of eating nothing but the Wendy’s chili for every. Single. Meal. Larry manned up and stuck to his word. Thirty-one days later, Larry has dropped nearly 30 pounds (!), down from 258.6 to 230:

Take a look at the transformation!

Truly insane stuff. Shoutout to Scottie. Shoutout to Wendy. And, most of all, shoutout to Larry @Tom & Marty’s, who I’ve asked to provide me with details of the first meal he had post-chili month. Awaiting to hear back …
