The future is here. In good and (mostly) bad ways. Wendy’s may start rolling out Uber-esque surge pricing and vending machines have facial recognition now, but at least you can now sit on your couch, play a golf video game and smell the fresh-cut grass.

In the vein of 4DX theaters and the “A Bug’s Life” show at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, a new groundbreaking device called GameScent will allow users to smell the shows, movies and video games playing on their very own televisions. It’s powered by AI, because of course it is, and utilizes cartridges with various senses “providing a rich, multisensory journey.”

So far, we have Base Smells including Gunfire, Explosions, Racing, Storm and Forest and DLC Smells featuring Napalm, Human Exertion, Ocean and Golf Course. If you “love the smell of napalm in the morning,” this is the gizmo for you.

“Studies have shown that the sense of smell imprints in long-term memory more strongly than anything else,” said GameScent President Casey Bunce. “With GameScent, we’re hoping to elevate gamers’ experiences to be more exciting and memorable than they ever have been before.”

The Fresh Cut Grass cartridge will allow you, at least according to GameScent, to “immerse yourself in the invigorating essence of a sunlit lawn as you swing the golf clubs, or field.” Sounds perfect for ‘PGA Tour 2K’ players or for your 10 millionth ‘Happy Gilmore’ rewatch. There’s also a Sports Arena scent coming soon, which we’re assuming smells like sweat and overcooked hot dogs but could be great for TGL viewing parties down the line.

GameScent can be purchased on Amazon for just under $150, which is a steal because walking outside and smelling fresh-cut grass is really difficult sometimes. Now you can stay inside and pretend you’re outside. Something we’ve all dreamed of time and time again.
