The Victorian Government has overturned its controversial ban on toilets at golf clubs in metropolitan Melbourne.

The news came in a Health Department media release today which said the change would come into effect from 11.59pm on Monday, meaning golf clubs and facilities will be able to open their toilet facilities from Tuesday.

However they will be required to clean the toilets twice a day.

“These changes, which come into effect at 11:59pm Monday, 4 October, mean toilet facilities can open while also keeping personal contact and authorised worker presence at outdoor recreation facilities to a hard minimum,” the media statement said.

Golf Australia along with some Melbourne clubs have lobbied strongly for a reversal of the rule which came a few days ago.

Clubhouses will still have to remain closed.

Golf returned last Wednesday in metropolitan Melbourne after six weeks’ absence because of a COVID-19 outbreak.
