While there was not huge movement in FedEx Cup playoff points Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, what did happen was significant to a few of the game’s biggest names.

Scottie Scheffler topped the list and smoked the field at TPC Southwind, winning by eight shots to capture his second tour title this year. Scheffler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young came into the week as the top three in points and left in the same order.

Matt McCarty came into the week at No. 48 and finished in a tie for 63rd place. He finished early Sunday, so for most of the afternoon he was fluctuating between Nos. 50, 51 and 52, with his final standing depending on both Jordan Spieth and Keith Mitchell. Ultimately, Spieth made three back-nine bogeys and failed to birdie the par-5 16th hole. Mitchell hit the ball in the water on the 18th hole and bogey there kept him out. That all meant that McCarty, somehow, held onto the 50th, and final spot, while Mitchell and Spieth were the first two who failed to advance to the BMW Championship this week at Bellerive in St. Louis.

Sungjae Im is the only player to play his way into the BMW field. He entered the week at No. 53 in points and left 40th via a fifth-place tie in Memphis. Mitchell entered 49th and left 51st.

A reminder that the top 30 in points after the BMW Championship next week advance to the Tour Championship at East Lake and play for the FedEx Cup title.
