IT WAS all a dream. Or so Ernie Els thought until he he woke up the day after and realised Rickie Fowler’s ace at the 19th hole to win $1 million for the Els for Autism foundation actually happened.
At a pro-am for Ernie Els’ charity on Monday, US PGA Tour star Fowler made the shot of the year. The event, held at Old Palm Club in Florida, gave players the opportunity and Fowler cashed in, making a hole-in-one from 103 metres out.
Today, four-time Major winner Els posted this touching tribute to his mate Fowler, captioned, “Woke up today thinking I dreamt about @RickieFowler making an ace for $1m for @ElsForAutism. Then I watched this”.
Els posted photos immediately after the event, thanking Fowler and the sponsors involved:
“Will always remember this moment. Great support once again from pros. #humbled still can’t believe it! #iwasthere @rickiefowler.
“Thank you again to @KetelOne and @SAP for sponsoring the 19th hole $1M contest. Still on cloud 9.”
