By now we thought we had seen every angle of every Team Europe celebration following its 16.5-11.5 triumph in Italy, but we were wrong. Because before bottles started being popped, there were some tears flowing. In particular, between Luke Donald and Shane Lowry.

A new video shows Lowry making his way over to Donald before the festivities started to thank him for putting the Irishman on the team. Donald had used one of his captain’s picks on a struggling Lowry, a move that many questioned heading into the event.

But Lowry contributed 1.5 points to Europe’s cause in three matches in addition to being the team’s biggest cheerleader and rules enforcer. So the two shared a special moment—and a few tears—following the victory. Have a look and listen:

“Great job,” Donald says in the video. “I love you.”

“Thank you so much for trusting me,” Lowry replies. “This is my dream, honestly.”

“Mine too,” Donald says, barely getting the words out of his mouth.

Oh, man. That’s the good stuff right there.

Lowry said earlier this week that he puts this win over his lone major victory at the 2019 Open Championship. And judging by this clip, he’s not lying.
