The sea was angry that day, my friends. Like an old man trying to return soup at a deli. Sorry, but it was hard not to think of that iconic “Seinfeld” line while watching the best players in the world battle the elements of the greatest meeting of land and sea on Tuesday.
It got really windy during a practise around Pebble Beach. And thanks to social media and equipment manufacturers wanting to show off, we got to see some crazy highlights.

First, there was Rory McIlroy still managing to make eagle on the par-5 18th:

Talented player, that one. Then there was Akshay Bhatia hitting a mini driver on the 106-yard seventh hole:

No big deal. Just a TEN-club wind. But nothing was wilder than the insane backwards flop shot pulled off by Emiliano Grillo on Pebble’s iconic par 3. The guy hit a flop shot at the ocean and it wound up going into the hole. Have a look:

Again, WILD stuff. And, again, this was only Tuesday. Buckle up, everyone. And don’t try this at home.
