With his DP World Tour fate in someone else’s hands, Eddie Pepperell could only watch on Sunday as Sean Crocker delivered an all-time dagger with an epic finish to keep his tour card. But Pepperell quickly picked himself up and fired off a classy—and funny—tweet.
Let’s start by backing up a bit. Last week’s Genesis Championship was the last event to try to get into—or, in Pepperell’s case, stay in—the top 100 of the DP World Tour season standings. But Pepperell, citing a neck injury and exhaustion, chose not to make the trek to South Korea.

It was an interesting decision given that he was No. 99 in the Race to Dubai standings. But it looked like a stroke of genius when he still had the final spot late on Sunday. However, that’s when Crocker came up incredibly clutch with a back-nine 29 (!) including four consecutive birdies to close to finish T-34 and leap Pepperell for that final spot. Here’s how that looked:

And shortly after, Pepperell, who was on the other side of this situation last year, had this to say:
Now, @seancrocker11, that is how you do it. Big balls, minerals you could say. Very well done.
You can buy me a bourbon when I next see you. 🥃

Well said, Eddie. Justin Rose was certainly impressed by how you handled the situation.
Class act @PepperellEddie 👏🏼
Finishing 1 outside the mark after a long season must hurt, but you’ve got the game my friend and will be back… You’ll always be my @british_masters Champion! 👊🏻 https://t.co/aONxIpHhBq pic.twitter.com/6ndJhH6dzV

And, yes, a (nice) bourbon—or three—on Crocker sounds very fair.
