When Jordan Spieth won his first two Major championships, the golf shoes he wore weren’t yet available to the public. At the time, he’d been working with Under Armour to create his ideal shoe, a process that’d eventually take more than two years to nail down.

Fast forward to March 2017, and the Spieth One shoe finally landed at retail. They generated a good bit of buzz earlier this year, but now that Spieth has won a third Major championship wearing a shoe that he helped design (and that’s actually available for purchase), let’s take a closer look at some of its design and technology features that may have been overlooked.

First off, the shoe comes in four colours (the all-white option is our favourite) and a number of width and lacing options, all of which ensure a proper fit and ideal styling.

Second, if you take a closer look at the shoe’s sole you’ll see a unique system of spikes. Spieth’s swing has a lot of lateral rotation, so the sole has an extra amount of rotational traction to help keep a golfer’s foot in place during the swing.

And third, the one-piece leather upper creates just one seam (in the heel) and has a two-year waterproof guarantee. The perforations in this upper by the toe box and in its midsection are both aesthetic and functional, since they remove weight from the shoe.

The name itself, “Spieth One,” suggests more iterations of the shoe will get released as the seasons unfold. Keep an eye open for the Spieth Two in 2018.

The Spieth One is available from for $279.99 at www.UnderArmour.com.au and in store at Under Armour Brand House at Chadstone Shopping Centre, VIC and Pacific Fair, Broadbeach, QLD, at www.RebelSport.com.au and at select Rebel Sport stores Australia wide.
