No one does a rant quite like radio legend Chris Russo. Heck, we talked to the ‘Mad Dog’ about the art of the rant when we had him on The Loop podcast back in January. So it only made sense that Russo would have a strong take on this year’s Ryder Cup and produce a memorable monologue. And, boy, did he come through with an instant classic.

Making his weekly appearance on ESPN’s First Take, the Mad Dog Sports Radio host took aim at Team USA during his “What Are You Mad About?” segment. Russo wound up putting Stephen A. Smith on the floor, and got so worked up that he needed to get water from Marcus Spears in order to continue.

From captain Zach Johnson (“He was ATROCIOUS!”) to Patrick Cantlay to Joe LaCava, no one repping the “U.S. of A.” as Dog says was safe. Enjoy:

Just vintage stuff from Russo, who took apart the Americans worse than the Europeans did during that 9-and-7 shellacking of Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka.

“And look at LaCava!” Russo screams. “I love Joe, but he’s having a fight with McIlroy on Saturday afternoon because McIlroy couldn’t putt. Look at that! He’s a CADDIE!”

It was that last line that brought Stephen A. to the ground in delight. Although moments later, Russo scolded his co-host for not following the Cantlay stuff more closely. “Do you follow sports?”

Again, fantastic stuff. We just hope Russo didn’t bet on the Americans.
