If you’re going to miss an old friend’s wedding, you better have a damn good excuse. This weekend, Chris Gotterup had exactly that when he missed one of his former Rutgers gofl teammate’s weddings to not just play at the WM Phoenix Open but win the whole enchilada.

Thankfully, there were no hard feelings. Following Gotterup’s win on Sunday—his third in his last 10 PGA Tour starts—the groom, Jack Panagos, posted this video of him celebrating his buddy’s big win with the fellas, calling it “one special wedding gift.” We’d have to agree.

Amazing stuff. Panagos was married on Saturday and fought through the hangover on Sunday to celebrate Gotterup’s dramatic playoff victory with the boys. That’s dedication, folks. Let’s also give a shoutout to the new bride, who let her husband lock into a couple of hours of golf on their wedding weekend. Something tells us these kids are gonna make it.

As for Gotterup, no apologies are needed after Sunday’s remarkable charge, but still, it might be a nice gesture to pick up something from the registry with a chunk of that $1.7 million winner’s purse. Whaddya say, Chris?
