It wouldn’t be a major without some sartorial controversy. Golf’s apparel outfitters save their best and brightest looks for the year’s biggest tournaments, and there’s always handful that miss the mark in humorous ways. On Thursday at Shinnecock, that ignominious honor went to Brooks Koepka, whose Nike shirt tickled golf fans pink throughout the opening round. From ‘Seinfeld’ references to bacon comparisons, here are some of our favorite reactions.

And because the world remains a fiery car crash of opinions, some people even liked it!

Despite the general reaction to the salmon sashimi statement and a disppointing double bogey to end his opening round, Koepka turned in a solid two-over 72. With the worst of wind arriving for the afternoon wave, Kopeka—pink shirt or no—remains firmly in the mix as he vies to repeat his magical week at Shinnecock in 2018.
