It’s the photo that has the golf world talking.

While all eyes were squarely on the British Open at St Andrews, a sidelined Rory McIlroy still managed to steal the spotlight.

The 26-year-old was spotted out in his hometown of Holywood, Northern Ireland today, one of his first public appearances since he injured his ankle during a friendly game of soccer with friends.

The United Kingdom’s Belfast Live snapped the injured world No.1 leaving his gym after a workout – minus his moon boot! The image sparked immediate talk of an early comeback.

What was originally believed to be a long-term ligament injury, potentially restricting him to a moon boot for 4-6 weeks, has now given fans hope for a return to the US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits on August 13.
