There are just four PGA Tour events left in 2025—including this week’s Bank of Utah Championship—with tour status, some signature events and a good deal of cash still on the line. A win to close out the year is a huge momentum booster … and very important when it comes to buying presents over the upcoming holidays.
Matt McCarty will be back to defend his title after winning the inaugural playing of the event in 2024 at Black Desert Resort by three shots over Stephan Jaeger. Three wins on the Korn Ferry Tour over July and August got McCarty a spot on the PGA Tour, and in just his third event as a member, he won on the highest level. He’ll be joined this week by Michael Thorbjornsen, Alex Noren, Maverick NcNealy, Billy Horschel and Max Homa.
Homa sits on the bubble, currently at No. 100 on the FedEx Cup points list with the top 100 earning cards for 2026 (mind you, Homa already has his locked up through 2028). On the other hand, Isaiah Salinda, Austin Eckroat, Joel Dahmen and Max McGreevy are all less than 20 points behind the six-time PGA Tour winner.
This week’s winner will receive 500 FedEx Cup points and a $1.08 million cut of the $6 million purse.
Golf Channel and the NBC Sports app will carry live coverage on Thursday and Friday from 5-8 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
