Low rounds of the week from four of the five members of the team saw the PGA of Australia storm home to earn a share of fourth at the Women’s PGA Cup in England.
As the United States side built on their unassailable lead to claim a fourth consecutive Women’s PGA Cup crown, the Aussies delivered their best performance of the week when it mattered to share fourth with South Africa.
Host nation Great Britian & Ireland held off Canada to finish second and third respectively, Sweden rounding out the 2026 edition in sixth place.
Representing the PGA of Australia for the first time, Danni Vasquez-Boyd was 4-under through eight holes of her final round, ultimately signing for a 1-under 72 and finishing tied fourth in the individual standings.
Captain Grace Lennon also saved her best for last, her even-par 73 resulting in a rise up the leaderboard into a tie for 13th, Katelyn Must (77) and Nicole Martino (77) playing their part in Australia’s strong finish. cluBarham Golf and Sports Club General Manager Sienna Voglis ended the week tied 23rd after shooting 81 in Round 3.
“The girls did really well today,” said Lennon.
“We wanted to come out and be a little bit more decisive today, and I think we all stuck to that quite well.
“There were some ups and downs obviously during the week and some good and some not so good, but really proud of the girls for coming out and putting up a good fight today and moving up the leaderboard.”
Leading the PGA of Australia team for the first time, Lennon said there were lots of learnings to take away from the week, both on and off the golf course.
“It’s been an honour to captain the team this week,” she added.
“I’ve learned a lot about just staying patient as always and having a good frame of mind out on the course.
“And I suppose even when you don’t, battling through that and having the strength to keep going.
“Golf is a funny game where it ebbs and flows, but just sticking with it.
“I’m really proud of how we showed up today.”
USA’s playing captain Ashley Grier pointed to the strength in depth across her squad as a
main contributor to their triumph.
“The talent is so strong. It’s so hard to make this team, and everybody wants to work hard to make sure they do well,” she said.
“All five of us are great players. If we stuck to our own games, I felt it was going to take care of itself. It keeps getting harder to make the team, but hopefully I keep making it, keep playing well, and the US keeps dominating.
“Carden Park, thank you so much. Everybody took care of anything we needed, and the course was so fun to play.”
Sandra Changkija was the standout individual performer, taking the Brittany Kelly Medallist honour with a 6-under total of 213. Changkija’s consistency was evident, carding 71 in all three rounds, with an eagle on the par-5 second during her final round the highlight of her week.
