It’s never too early to start making plans to attend the Masters. In fact, you’re probably too late if you’re trying to find a hotel room within 20 miles of Augusta National for this April’s events, but if you’re interested in a longer-term play—and have a bit of room in your budget—you could secure the ultimate location to host buddies/Masters trips every year.
Goshen Plantation Golf Club—one of the few public courses within the city limits of Augusta—is up for sale, and if you have $2.5 million, you might even be able to close before the big tournament. The 1968 Ellis Maples design checks in at a sturdy 7,400 yards from the tips and has been the subject of a two-year rolling renovation by current owner Spike Kelley, a former PGA Tour player and winner of the 1975 Buick Open.

The 210-acre property has a 25,000 plantation-style clubhouse with a snack bar and banquet room and even includes a 1,900-square-foot apartment where the new owner could live and immediately hit the ground (or Masters grounds) running.
Green fees range from $28 to $49—cart included—and there are robust junior, senior and women’s programs in place. The club calls its practice area “Augusta’s best driving range,” but might be a bit of hyperbole considering the warm-up cathedral Augusta National built in 2010. Still, Augusta Magazine’s former “Best Public Course” winner is no dog track, and a prospective owner could certainly gain from the traditional 200 percent to 300 percent rate surges local courses typically deploy during Masters week.
