Bingara Gorge Golf Course spans 90 hectares and features an 18-hole, par-72 championship course with a maximum length of 6,690 metres. Designed by renowned golfer Graham Marsh, it has long been a centrepiece of the Bingara Gorge community and is recognised as one of south-west Sydney’s most scenic and technically impressive courses.

“Bingara Gorge offers a rare opportunity to secure a premium course in one of the state’s fastest-growing regions. Our vision is to enhance the course to championship level, while offering an accessible, fun and inclusive experience for golfers of all standards and demographics,” Golf NSW chief executive Stuart Fraser said.

“A key focus will be driving participation initiatives and offering golfing programs to the local community. We look forward to working closely with Metro and the community as we bring this vision to life.”

The acquisition provides Golf NSW with a flagship facility to:

  • Inclusively grow the game across all demographics in one of the fastest growing regions in NSW
  • Host key golf events to help grow the game
  • Support the growth of junior golf
  • Establish facilities to develop future stars of the game
  • Offer publicly accessible golf on a truly ‘championship’ course
  • Establish a Golf NSW administration office
  • Promote industry best practice
  • Establish training opportunities for industry stakeholders

The sale includes the full 18 holes and associated golf infrastructure, including two new golf bridges that Metro will deliver as part of the agreement. Construction of the bridges will commence in mid-2026 with completion anticipated by mid-2027. Golf NSW will formally commence management of golf operations at Bingara Gorge Golf Course in June 2026.

As part of its long-term plans, Golf NSW intends to base an administration office, high-performance training facilities and event operations within the clubhouse/pro shop precinct beside the future hotel and The Wilton (country club) on The Irons Drive. This will position Bingara Gorge as a major hub for golf tournaments, corporate/social golf days and player development.

Metro Property Development’s managing director, Luke Hartman, said the sale reflects Metro’s strategy of partnering with leading specialist operators to elevate key community assets.

“Metro is a residential developer and our focus has always been on finding the right partners to operate important amenities. Golf NSW brings the vision, expertise and ambition needed to take this world-class course to its fullest potential, reinforcing Bingara Gorge as the premier community in south-west Sydney.

“We spoke with leading figures across the golf sector to identify the right long-term custodian for the course. Golf NSW has been looking for the right asset for some time and Bingara Gorge presented the ideal alignment. Their aspiration to elevate the course to championship standard and establish major training and development facilities will significantly benefit the community and the broader region.”

Hartman said Golf NSW’s stewardship will strengthen the community’s amenity and appeal.

“Having a top-tier operator overseeing the course ensures residents will continue to enjoy a beautifully maintained and highly regarded facility. It reinforces the unique offering at Bingara Gorge, where golf frontage living is supported by world-class recreational amenities.”

Mayor of Wollondilly, Matt Gould, added: “Council would like to warmly welcome Golf NSW to the Wollondilly Shire and looks forward to working in partnership with them as they bring to life their vision for a championship quality, publicly accessible golf facility at Bingara Gorge.

“This will open up a range of opportunities, including major golfing events, which will increase tourism to the Wollondilly Shire and position the Wilton Growth Area as an upcoming regional centre. Importantly, it will also provide inclusive golf opportunities for our local and broader community.

“This is fantastic news for Wilton and for the whole Wollondilly Shire and will make our area an even more attractive visitor destination.”

Golf operations will continue as normal during the transition, and the course will remain open to the community and public. Further details regarding Golf NSW’s upgrades and operational plans will be shared soon.
