Tied for the lead after 54 holes of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, Adam Schenk displayed a calm one might not expect of a veteran tour player still seeking his first PGA Tour win.

“I don’t want to call it nervous, more excited than anything for tomorrow just to have the opportunity and find out what’s going to happen,” he said. “I’m as excited to see what’s going to happen as everybody else is.”
As it turned out, that excitement was well-founded. Schenk stayed steady in the forceful winds at Port Royal Golf Course and not only joined the list of PGA Tour winners but left the list of those that have won $US10 million or more on tour without a victory (coming into the event Schenk had banked more than $US12.6 million in his career).
Schenk is well known for carrying a wide array or clubs to each event, sometimes as much as two bags worth, yet for a player that finally won in his 243rd start on tour, his bag is not exactly full of the latest and greatest gear. His Ping G400 driver is a model that dates to 2017 as do his Mizuno MP-18 mid and short irons. His Ping i210 long irons are only slightly younger, having debuted in 2018.
Those clubs might be old in years but delivered a reliable one birdie, one bogey 71 and a career-changing win for Schenk. Something to get excited about, for sure.
