This time four years ago, legendary coach Urban Meyer was just beginning the worst stretch of his career-an 0-5 start as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. His current gig as an analyst on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff is giving him far less headaches, and much more free time to pick off Top 100 golf courses.

During an episode of The Triple Option podcast with former Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, a fellow FOX analyst, Meyer had to brag for a bit about his recent run on the golf course. Well, golf courses, that is.

“Mark, I gotta throw it at you. So, I played—I had to write them down—Pebble [Beach], Cypress [Point], San Fran [San Francisco Golf Club], Olympic and Monterey Peninsula, a couple weeks ago,” Meyer said.

That alone is a better five-course stretch than most golfers will play in their lifetime, and a reminder that you make a lot of friends in high places when you win three national championships. But Meyer, now 61 and clearly VERY happily retired, was far from finished.

“Then, last week, I played Shinnecock, National, Westhampton and Garden City,” he added. “This is after Ireland and Scotland. Mark, I coached for 38 years, I played five rounds a year. Now I’m playing a hundy.”

And by a hundy, Meyer meant most of America’s 100 Greatest, adding that his daughter got him “a little thing that you put pins in where you played” (hopefully it’s the Golf Digest-branded scroll).

“That bad boy is filling up here in the last two years,” Meyer said.

When you’re just tossing in Old Head in Ireland and Muirfield in Scotland as throwaways at the very end, you know you’re in complete sicko mode. Meyer still managed to sound semi-relatable, though, with that “I’ve just got to play better” comment. Nothing worse than playing almost half the top 50 in a few months and not playing your best golf during that time, am I right? We wouldn’t know.
