Marcel Siem has put together a long and productive career as a tour pro, including six wins on the DP World Tour. He may also may just own one of the most impressive records in golf.
Last December, Siem joined the “Life on Tour” podcast and told a particularly brutal story about just missing out on qualifying for the Masters. But it was during that same podcast in which he mentioned this other feat. Well, feats.
“I think I had three course records completely hammered without sleep,” Siem says. “It’s crazy.”
That’s when host George Harper Jnr interjects: “Sorry, say that one more time?”
“I had three course records in my life completely hammered without sleep,” Siem repeats.
That’s pretty wild. Then again, great athletes can overcome a lot. David Boon and that flight to England for the 1989 Ashes remains legendary. Anyway, Siem went on to detail one of those occasions, when a late-night bender basically took him to the first tee at Pebble Beach in 2015. And he shot 63.
“I puked twice that round,” Siem says.

The 44-year-old German added that he only told his playing partners, including surfing legend Kelly Slater, after the round.
“I mean, he must have smelled it,” Siem says, cracking up the room. Anyway, have a look and listen to this wild tale.

That’s crazy. Even John Daly would be impressed.
Now, we hate to ruin a great story with facts, but Siem didn’t quite match the Pebble Beach record of 62 at the time – held by Tiger Woods and others. Still, a 63 at one of the most famous courses on the planet during tournament play while being boozed up is still one heck of an accomplishment.
