Adam Hadwin was in the first group to tee off on Friday at 7 a.m., along with Keith Mitchell and Bob Sowards. By 9:45 a.m., he had already texted his wife to “book us flights.” As I’m writing this, Hadwin is still trying to survive the “Green Mile,” (oh, another bogey on No. 17), but it sounds like he’s already back home mentally.
After a middling two-over 73 on Thursday, Hadwin followed that up with five bogeys on his Friday front nine, and then four more by No. 17 for good measure. He has one birdie on Friday … so that’s nice? It’s safe to say that he won’t be making the cut, and the tour winner has no desire to stick around and enjoy what Charlotte has to offer.

“Just getting our daughter and myself all ready and headed out the door to the course,” his wife Jessica Hadwin posted. “My husband texting “book us flights” Me: [gif of Jon Rahm confused].”
Adam Hadwin’s better half and their daughter didn’t even get a chance to make it to Quail Hollow before they were informed that it was about time to pack it in. Golf’s a cruel game, and the Hadwins are far from alone here.
“They’re all the same lol,” replied Kourtney Schenk, Adam Schenk’s wife. “Sometimes Adam will have this conversation out loud with me while walking down a fairway. The looks are priceless.” Jessica then added, “When they make the ✈️ gesture you know it’s time to take the L and bounce haha.”
We certainly can’t blame the Adams. We’ve definitely had rounds in which we wish we could just leave the course and/or state as quickly as possible, but most of us aren’t professionals who can make that happen with a text or two.
Terrible rounds pop up, especially at majors, but Jessica Hadwin had a peculiar reason for why her Canadian husband couldn’t make it work in North Carolina: “Nothing to blame except the tariffs.”
